Dead-end Optical Illusion, or is it?

I found this on Decksitter's Photoblog. The photo is titled Dead-end. I found this photo interesting because the title would lead one to believe that this is indeed a dead-end.

I believe however that this is an optical illusion?

If this isn't a dead-end then what is it?

Execellent observation. My old comments were lost so I'm glad you posted the correct answer.

Hey, how come you went back to the original color scheme?

Yeah, what the above said! Give us black or give us death (or to a lesser extent, give us black death)!

As in answer to your question, I believe that this photo was taken on a bridge. Thusly there would be stairs running on either side. If the stairs take a sharp right or left (or both even, it's hard to tell), then what we're looking at, is a banister.

    Daria,

Well said. I think you are exactly right. there is most probably steps or a ramp going down to the left or the right.

However you and Shylah are on opposite sides of the fence. She doesn't care for the Black background.

    Cheers
