Optical Illusions Etc...

Description Presented here is a vast gallery of many different forms of Optical Illusions. Whether these optical illusions are conveyed through fractals, photographs, architecture, art, or old fashioned pen and ink, they are bound to remind you that "seeing is not believing."

Caution!!!! Some of the optical illusions on this blog may cause dizziness or possibly epileptic seizures. The latter happens when the brain can't handle the conflicting information from your two eyes. If you start feeling unwell when using this website, immediately cover one eye with your hand and then leave the page. Do not close your eyes because that can make the attack worse.

Missing Hole Triangle

Here is another illusion. I have seen it presented as a puzzle or math problem but commonsense tells us that this must be an illusion. The only thing we have to do is try and explain the illusion.

The explanation for this illusion isn't as clever or as tricky to figure out as you might think. It's simple. where the red and green triangles meet at the top of the large 'triangles' is different for each one. this is because the line at the top of the triangles is actually two lines. if you look hard you can see that where the red and green triangles meet there is a very small angle. for the first triangle it is concave, for the second, convex. the missing space adds up to the area of that small square.
